The Marine Education and Outreach Program, School of Marine Sciences, University of Maine Darling Marine Center announces an opening for a full-time research associate. The purpose of the position is to provide professional support to a marine education and outreach program with particular focus on social networking audiences. The position will apply online collaboration methodology to improve the regional and national programs of the Centers for Ocean Sciences Education Excellence (COSEE). Initial appointment is for one year, with annual reappointment dependent upon external grant funding and performance. The primary location of the position is at the University of Maine’s Darling Marine Center in Walpole, Maine. Required Knowledge / Skills: M.S. in Marine Biology, Oceanography, or related fields; Experience working with science researchers, teachers, and general public in web-based education environments; Skill in writing grant proposals; Ability to work in a Mac computing environment to create and maintain project databases, reports, and web pages; Willingness to travel extensively.
