This October the Harvard Museum of Natural History will be offering a three session, free teacher PD, Teaching about Rocks and Minerals with Museum Resources. This session is intended for elementary and middle school teachers from schools with a high percentage of low income students. This free program focuses on what the rocks and minerals that make up our planet tell us about the history of the Earth and supports teachers in developing customized field trip plans. The museum’s April 2010 program and previous professional development sessions were well attended and well received by participants. The program includes a free follow-up museum visit for each teacher and up to 50 students, and up to $200 subsidy for bus transportation to the museum.
More information and application directions are available on the museum’s website.
