Goldfish Training Contest

Do your youth have what it takes to be a marine mammal trainer? Our third annual goldfish training contest invites kids ages 10 to 14 to show off their skills by training a goldfish to perform a unique behavior. Entrants must videotape that behavior–and their training process–and submit it to The JASON Project by March 15, 2012. A grand-prize winner will be selected to join a beluga trainer at Mystic Aquarium for a day in the summer of 2012.

National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB) and Video Contest

The Consortium for Ocean Leadership manages a national academic competition for high schools on topics related to the study of the ocean — the National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB®). The NOSB is a nationally recognized and highly acclaimed high school academic competition that provides a forum for talented students to test their knowledge of the marine sciences, including biology, chemistry, physics, and geology. The NOSB was created in 1998 in honor of the International Year of the Ocean and,  since its inception, the competition has grown to include 25 regional competition locations with 300 schools and over 2,000 students participating annually.

NOSB Video Contest

The deadline for the National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB®) second annual Living on the Ocean Planet video competition is January 25, 2010.  The competition is being hosted in partnership with the Census of Marine Life (CoML), the National Marine Educators Association (NMEA), and the Encyclopedia of Life (EOL).  The goal is to showcase student-developed original videos that educate the general public about marine technology and address the Essential Ocean Literacy Principles. This year the contest will include regional winners as well as a National winner. The winning team from each region will be awarded a top prize by their regional site and will be posted on You Tube as well as on each of the regional NMEA Chapter websites that are serving as a regional video contest host.  The National winner will be invited to attend the 2010 NOSB Finals Competition in St Petersburg, Florida.
You do NOT have to participate in the NOSB competitions to enter this contest.
